Imagination Blankets Essay Contest

2017 “Sarah & Katy and the Imagination Blankets” Essay Contest

To foster a love of imagination, writing, and reading in elementary school students, Julie Stroebel Barichello is hosting the second annual “Sarah & Katy and the Imagination Blankets” essay contest.

This essay contest is open to all third-grade students in Illinois. To enter, teachers can download and print the entry form. Only one entry form is required per classroom.

In Sarah & Katy and the Imagination Blankets, Sarah and Katy receive blankets from their aunt and uncle for Christmas. At first, they’re disappointed. After all, a blanket doesn’t seem like a fun gift. But soon they discover that, with a little imagination, a blanket can be much more than it seems. Imagine you receive a blanket for Christmas. What do you imagine the blanket to be? Write a story about the adventure you have by imagining your blanket is something else.
